Joe Suhre, Principal

Joe Suhre is the owner and principal of Suhre & Associates. Joe has dedicated his practice to the defense of OVI cases. Virtually his entire caseload consists of OVI/DUI related cases.Joe has over 11 years of OVI defense experience and 5 years experience as a police officer. He has handled hundreds of DUI cases before dozens of judges. Because of this, Joe is uniquely qualified to defend his clients against DUI charges.

Joe began his legal career on the “other side of the fence” as a police officer. His experience and training as a police officer gives Joe a perspective not held by many other attorneys. When presented with a DUI charge, the first place Joe looks is to the actions of the police officer. He uses his knowledge of police practices and training standards to uncover missteps made by the arresting officer.

In, 2011, Joe was named a Rising Star Super in the Columbus Monthly magazine in the field of DUI/OVI defense. Joe has also been named a leading lawyer in the field of DUI/OVI defense by Cincy Business magazine in 2006, 2007, 2008, 2009 and 2010.

Joe’s method for handling cases is simple and straightforward: treat the client the same way the attorney would want to be treated if the attorney were the client, and do the very best job that you can. Joe not only uses this methodology, but has employed it into all of the Suhre & Associates attorneys. It is the culture of the firm and a driving force behind the firm’s success.

Another factor in Suhre & Associates success is the people. Whether it is a legal secretary, paralegal, administrative assistant, or an attorney – everyone at the firm is dedicated to performing at 100% of their ability, treating each client with dignity, courtesy, and respect. The mutual respect the firm shares with its clients is a contributing factor to the successful outcome of our cases.

Joe and the attorneys built Suhre & Associates as an aggressive law firm. Part of the firm’s culture is to explore all defense-options. Suhre & Associates’ success in handling Columbus DUI cases comes from uncompromising principles directed at providing thorough investigation of the facts, an analysis of all legal options, formulating a defense plan, and aggressively and effectively executing that plan.

Joe is licensed to practice law in the State of Ohio, Kentucky, and the Federal District Court for the Southern District of Ohio. He is a graduate of Xavier University and Cincinnati College of Law. He is married and has two sons.

DUI Case

A Relieved Client

“I went to court thinking I would just get driving privileges and still be under suspension for some time. Rob was able to get the entire ALS suspension waived and most of the court fees waived as well. Was placed under 6 months probation, couldnt have asked for a better outcome. Rob did a phenomenal job. He is very knowledgeable and accessible, and I would recommend him to anyone.”

DUI Case

A Grateful Client

“Rob is very knowledgeable in his area. His expertise and advice were unsurpassed. I not only had extreme confidence in Rob’s ability but was able to put my mind at ease while we went through this process. Rob was able to work with the prosecuting attorney and then get agreement from the Judge to dismiss several charges and plead to a 1st DUI. I cannot express the gratitude I have for Rob. I realize that he is being paid for his service, but his attitude is like none I’ve experienced when dealing with an attorney for this type of matter. He was not judgmental but caring.”
